Q: How do I use WS_FTP to transfer files from my computer to the Internet?
A: You will need to use WS_FTP, here's how:
Note: If you haven't downloaded and set-up WS_FTP, click Here for instructions.
1. Double click on the icon for the WS_FTP program.

2. Select your personal profile name. If the "Session Properties" window doesn't appear on start-up, click on "Connect" in the lower left corner and then select your personal profile name.

3. Click "OK". WS_FTP will now log into your web space on the server.

4. Once you are connected, navigate your computer's hard drive using the green arrow on the left side of the screen to choose the files you want to upload.
5. Click once on the name of the file you want to upload.
6. Click on the arrow in the center that points to RIGHT to upload. NOTE: Your homepage text file must be uploaded as index.html.

7. To disconnect your FTP session, click "Close" in the lower left corner.

8. After uploading, to view your web page, type in the URL: http://www.wwt.net/~yourusername/ in the Address or Location line of your web browser. Be sure to replace "yourusername" in the URL above with the your real username.
9. After uploading, to view an individual file (text or image), type in the URL: http://www.wwt.net/~yourusername/filename in the Address or Location line of your web browser. Be sure to replace "yourusername" and "filename" in the URL above with the your real username and the correct filename.
Note:
The most common error that people encounter when trying to get their website up and running is that they do not store their files in the "public_html" directory. Make sure that you have public_html in the Remote Host box on the Connection screen when you connect.
Another common mistake is not having the case in the HTML code match the files that you have uploaded. Please note that HTML is case sensitive. This means that if your file is called: Picture.jpg, that your HTML must be written exactly the same way. Many people store all of their files in lower case letters to make things easier to remember.
Note:
Dial-Up customers of West Wisconsin Telcom and 24-7 Telcom are allowed a maximum of 1 MB of web space on the server.
Please contact us if you need more web space, an additional 50 MB is available for $10.00/month.
